Frequently asked questions
With Onlia you can easily get an insurance quote online. Just answer some questions and you'll get a price right away.
Some situations will require you to speak to an Onlia insurance broker team member, but otherwise you can get an insurance quote and policy anytime online.

New customers can bundle their policies by purchasing them at the same time. You'll automatically receive the discount. For existing customers looking to add a policy and receive the discount, contact your broker or give us a call at 1 844-472-7905.

Auto insurance
- Are all drivers eligible for Onlia insurance?
As of June 7, 2024, Onlia Agency Inc became a Registered Insurance Brokerage (RIBO). New customers can receive a quote and policy through one of our many carriers! For existing customers, you will receive a renewal offer based on the carrier that best fits your driving record and needs.
- Are there any restrictions on the types of cars you insure?
Most passenger vehicles can be insured through Onlia with a few conditions.
The car must be:
- Designed to be distributed and used in Canada
- Registered, plated, and located in Ontario for the majority of the year
- Less than 20 years old
- Not damaged in any way that would affect its safe operation
- Not customized, unless it's for accessibility reasons
- Not for commercial use (unless it’s used for a ridesharing, carsharing, or delivery service that provides automobile insurance while you're on the job).
We only cover the personal use part of your vehicle.
- Do you cover vehicles used for ridesharing? (Uber, Lyft, etc.)
We can insure your vehicle if you drive for a ridesharing service that provides automobile insurance while you're on the job. We only cover the personal use part of your vehicle.
Please review your company’s policy to ensure you have commercial coverage. We are unable to cover vehicles used for delivery services that do not provide insurance on the job.
- Do you cover vehicles used for delivery? (Uber Eats, Amazon Flex, etc.)
We can insure your vehicle if you drive for a delivery service that provides automobile insurance while you're on the job. We only cover the personal use part of your vehicle.
Before you start your policy, please let your broker know how many hours you will be participating in delivery services per week so we can ensure you are placed with the right company.
Please review your company’s policy to ensure you have commercial coverage. We are unable to cover vehicles used for delivery services that do not provide insurance on the job.
- Do you insure commercial vehicles?
You can purchase coverage for commercial vehicles through aha insurance by visiting ahainsurance.ca.
- Do you insure customized cars?
Onlia does not insure customized cars unless it's for accessibility purposes. This includes customizations like:
Performance upgrades (e.g. nitrous, engine swaps, superchargers, air intake valve, etc.)
Aftermarket body or exhaust upgrades (carbon fibre hood, body kits, racing seats, roll bar/cage, shaved door handles, etc.)
Altered or hydraulic suspensions
Custom murals/graphics/paint
Aftermarket tachometer
- Do you insure recreational vehicles? (RV, motorhome, snowmobile, etc.)
Yes, we do. You can visit those products' individual webpages to learn more about insuring your recreational vehicle. Navigate to the Lifestyle tab in the website menu to find each product.
- Do you insure motorcycles?
Yes, we do. You can visit our motorcycle page to learn more about insuring your recreational vehicle.
- What are my options if my previous insurer(s) cancelled my policy?
Being cancelled by your previous insurer may impact your rates and/or eligibility with certain providers.
If you were cancelled for reasons such as fraud, misrepresentation, DUI, or a major/criminal conviction, it's not the end of the road. You may still be able to obtain a quote through one of our providers.
- Do you offer insurance outside Ontario?
We offer auto insurance in Ontario and Alberta, home insurance in Ontario, Alberta and BC, as well as numerous lifestyle insurance policies depending on your province.
*Note that you need a valid Ontario or Alberta driver’s licence to apply for auto insurance through Onlia.
- Do you insure right-hand drive vehicles?
We do not offer coverage for right-hand drive vehicles.
We only insure regular vehicles designed for use in, and distributed in the Canadian market.
- Do you insure G1 drivers?
We do insure G1 drivers!
The great news is that if they aren’t the primary operator of a vehicle there won’t be any additional premium for them.
